About Stuff & Tales

Julia Perry of Stuff & Tales VintageWith a background in retail, events, journalism, and for the last ten years, managing the social media accounts of several creative brands (including a maker’s market and Antiques shop,) I feel privileged to have worked closely with and learnt from so many. Community and collaboration has always been a leading force in conducting work relationships and in the Spring of 2017 this was brought to the fore when I co-founded SHE:Social Hub Entrepreneurs - a female networking group with my then business partner Sass Woods. Following four fruitful years of bringing together women in safe spaces where support could be found and inspiring stories could be shared, I decided, during a prolonged period of bitter sweet reflection, to move on to pastures new, eventually leading to resurrecting old passions.

Sourcing vintage and antiques was born out of a growing fascination and appreciation for the gently aging, a clinging to past times where at one moment or another joy, solitude or loss was felt. There is little that wills me to shop new these days and my home is a trove of objects sourced or handed down from previous generations.

What makes the pieces truly special and unique, begins with the connection upon first encountering the objects…a complete falling for moment! Then, the very act of adding these precious things to various corners, walls and table settings in a home, makes the process all the more fulfilling.

As a story-teller and hobbyist photographer, I enjoy going beyond items and sharing more about their purpose and their charm as well as the hands which treasure them.

Stuff & Tales was first created in 2015 while raising our two young kids in Malta (the island where I was born.) When myself and then husband Dan, decided to return to Bath in the U.K. in the summer of 2017, the business was put to bed as changes welcome and unwelcome took hold. I am therefore grateful to be revisiting a project which continues to bring comfort and joy at this point of my life.

Thank you for choosing to stop by. I hope you enjoy browsing through our catalogue of carefully selected decorative items, furniture, paintings and accessories. Do get in touch if something from the collection catches your eye. We are always open to discussing projects collaborative in nature and indeed, advise on how certain items would work best in your home or workplace.
